I am on a blogging ROLL lately! Damn! Today we are going back to April to visit a shoot with the lovely Britni McIntosh! You may have noticed, I am still digging through my older shoots that need to be blogged, and I am doing so in no particular order. I hope you like this trip down memory lane that I’ve been doing. I swear I will catch up one of these days….
Britni is the sweetest little thing. I have known her for ages. We grew up in the same crowd of friends and now we are all old and still friends. Woohoo! Britni was actually one of my very first guinea pigs EVER when I got my first camera (Nikon D60) a few years ago. While Britni kicked ass on that shoot, looking at my old work kind of burns my eyes out. I’m making these really small so no one can actually see them.
HAHAHA. If it gives you any indication of how old this is, I found this photo on an old hard drive from 2009 in an folder entitled “Myspace”…….
….. I’ve lost my train of thought.
Now it’s 2013. And I got to shoot her again for the first time since my early days. It was pretty stoked!! I’ve wanted to shoot her for so long but she lives in Indiana and I live in Washington, DC. Somehow, the stars aligned and we were both vacationing in North Carolina at the same time in April and we were able to schedule a quick shoot together!
We decided to do two looks together. One sweet and happy and one dark and gothy. Since this photoshoot is from April, I’ve lost all of my Behind the Scenes photos, so I am shamelessly borrowing them from Britni’s instagram. Thanks honey bunny!
Two look sneak peek!
Knowing that we had limited time and two looks, I decided to shoot the black and white look first. I wanted to save the pink look for shooting the sunset because I knew the colors of the sunset would pop more against the pink than they would against the black. We started in an abandoned fraternity or sorority (??) house. I used to live near this abandoned building with the greek letters Delta Kappa and an owl painted inside it. In my extremely minimal google searching, I still don’t know (or really care) what it is/was. All it is now is a pretty cool photo spot.
On to the goods! First setup:
& a lighting test outtake of me falling.
Yes, those striped legs belong to yours truly.
For this next set, I wanted to try some seriously low key lighting. I love the way the deep shadows play into the feel of this image.
And the outtakes. Here is Britni making some adorably menacing faces in our lighting test.
Then we popped outside for a few more shots by this creepy lamp post in the backyard of this house.
All done here! Time to lighten the mood a little bit and change outfits! Planning shoots while in different states can be difficult. We were each picking pieces of our wardrobe for the shoot. After texting pictures back and forth we settled on something that looked like this.
Now that is some good e-planning!
Britni got changed and we headed out to our next location: a huge field of beautiful yellow flowers.
Once we were there, we had some time to kill while waiting for the sun to go down.
Well, may as well take some pictures!
La la la laaaaaaa… Just waiting for the sun…
While the lighting is pretty, it’s not the lighting I was looking for.
BAM! Perfect! Time to knock em dead!
OH yeah! I forgot to mention! These photos were featured in Deadly Dessert Magazine’s May issue that had a flower theme. Check out our spread! Woohoo!
Finally, we wrapped up a fun day of shooting together. If you’re interested in either of the wigs that Britni is wearing in the photos above, please check out Gothic Lolita Wigs. The black and white split is a discontinued wig, but you can see GLW‘s new longer splits HERE. The pink wig she is wearing is Gothic Lolita Wigs’ Rhapsody Collection in Rose, which can be found HERE. Her lashes are Born to Flirt from Dolluxe.
Thanks Britni! I am so happy we could make this day work and I can’t wait for our paths to cross again!!! I’ll dress you up like Hermione and take your photo. 😉

Meet Frances and Joey. They are a seriously awesome couple with a lot of really great and fun ideas. Frances’ sister, Francheska, has been a great friend of mine for many years so it was really cool to finally be able to spend some time with Frances as well. Her fiance, Joey, is hysterical. I had a great time kicking it with these two a few weeks ago.
Their first idea was to do a boxing scene. Joey is a big fan of boxing… here is how it played out.
But he is a great sport 🙂
So off to the park for a picnic! Unfortunately, we got caught in a rainstorm so we took shelter in this covered area, which actually turned out to be really cool. The air was extremely muggy and foggy so while we were waiting for the storm to stop, we snapped off a few other pics that turned out to be some of my favorites from the day. I love the hazy effect at the top of the screen from the weather on my lens.
Teeny and Itsy. Hehe!
Finally! The storm stopped!
The number 1 image of the day… drum roll please!
Haaaahaha Teeny and Itsy! I love this one!
What a perfectly sweet couple. 🙂
Andres and Jessica. Perfect.
I am soooo pleased to have been invited as a guest and as the photographer of Andres and Jessica’s wedding. I became friends with Andres and Jessica when I first met them for their engagement session (Quick reminder: Engagement Photos!) almost a year ago. SOMEHOW I managed to not know this sweet couple although they know EVERYONE I know, including my boyfriend. What the heck. I feel like I missed out on a great friendship all these years! But since we know all of the same peeps, it made this wedding one of the most fun to shoot. What a blast!!!
Well, lets get started! This is the story of Andres and Jessica’s wedding day… Here we go!
The venue was the Doubletree in Charlotte, NC. All of the folks here were so accommodating and helpful. Big ups to the wedding planner (someone please remind me of her name?) for this wedding.. She killed it! I know that wedding planning is no easy task, and I totally respect those who can handle the job!
The wedding is getting close!
HOW FREAKING AMAZING IS THIS DRESS??
I want one just like it for my wedding! Hey Jess, let me get that! Haha!
While Jess and I were waiting for the ceremony, we knocked out some quick bridal shots. Doesn’t she look gorgeous? Thanks Genna Poletti Makeup Artistry for the insanely stunning makeup. I know you made Jessica and the girls extremely happy.
Now it’s time to go! It’s time for the wedding!
After the wedding was the cocktail hour where everyone got to know each other and of course, get some cocktails!
Jessica and Andres got their own little private quiet time during the cocktail hour to be alone and spend a few minutes together as newlyweds! I love these!
And the fun begins!! Reception time! Try not to be overwhelmed by the amount of reception photos I am posting… I know it is excessive but I just loved this wedding so much and had a blast! I just want to share the fun with photo memories!
This is Jessica and Andres’ first dance as newlyweds… Too cute!
She got him!
Time to throw the bouquet and garter! That kid was so stoked… He cracked me up! I’m so glad he caught it haha!
This is my absolute favorite dance sequence I have ever shot. Isn’t it the most adorable thing you have ever ever ever seen? Oh my gosh. Can’t get over it. Hahaha… awww..
Finally a few more favorites from the rest of the night.
I had such a blast with Andres and Jessica on their wedding night. Thanks again to Mr. & Mrs. L for allowing me to be a part of it!!!
Oooh, Ice Princess! Subreen and I have decided that we have been working too hard lately and wanted to do a creative shoot to relax and have some fun! We take breaks from work.. by working.. I know, we are obsessed! Can’t hate us for loving our jobs 🙂 So, after we found a night that worked for us, I went in search of a model to play with. That led us to miss Emma Blaney of High Point! She was so much fun! It’s hard to be around new people and be outgoing and chatty but she seemed like she has been friends with us forever. I love models like that!
Subreen started by curling her long, long hair. Then it was makeup time! Because of her super ultra glittery eyeshadow, Sub had Emma lie down on the floor to prevent a huge glitter mess! Haha! I came in the studio and was surprised to see them like that.. so goofy hahaha…
After a while of chit-chatting, video chatting with Genna!, and glittery madness, we got closer and closer to shooting. Time to prep my camera for the shoot.. I obviously wanted to use a cooler color temperature to portray this lovely “Ice Princess”.
Alright! We are ready! Hopped in the studio, set LR3 to tether the shoot so Subreen can watch (a new addition to my studio life, woohoo!), and off we go!

Thanks again, Emma! You were such a delight!
Hey everyone!! Today was my DAY OFF from the movie! Decided that I needed to take a serious breather and go zen out shooting some yoga poses for my best friend, Nicole. Loving how they turned out!!!
She is so talented and strong! I am so proud of her!
Once it started getting a little bit darker, I decided I wanted to play with some flash. Time to light her up!! Again.. love the results! The colors turned out fantastic!
Now back to reality… work work work! Movie will be done at the end of this month and I’m fully booked until mid-May so you’ll have a lot of new stuff coming your way soon… xo!
Hey guys! So this post is a little different than my usual style. Some shots from the Lowbrow + Torch Runner show. No shots from the wild aftermath of police chases, searches, tow trucks, shooting suspects, or of Waka Flocka… but you can’t have everything.
