Meet Katy + Andrew.
Perfect couple, huh?
We had a killer vintage outdoors engagement session the other weekend when I was in Wilmington for Dede + Josh’s wedding. A weekend full of loooove. 😉 Seriously, could they be any more perfect?
We began in Wilmington, NC where we started by doing the downtown photo circle and then went to play in the sunflower fields. I love how these sunflower photos turned out.. Just like I imagined when we were planning this shoot!
Then we headed out to Ft. Fisher, NC! This beautiful location cannot be matched by anywhere in Eastern NC, in my opinion.
Katy + Andrew played off of each other so well. I love when couples interact naturally! They had so much fun and it just shines in their photos.. Look how cute!!!
They were having too much fun! Whoa!
Tug-of-war on the spine. He’s a chiropractor. Just for some backstory on that one haha.. Definitely the most interesting item I have ever had a couple bring to their session!!! How creative!
Then we headed over to the beach to knock out a vintage beach date. Love these, too! I just love this whole session basically. Wrapped up the day with a sweet silhouette….
I enjoyed working with Katy + Andrew so much.. I hope to work with them again soon and of course, I wish them the best of luck!!

Meet Tepy & Matt.
Over the weekend, I traveled to DC to document Tepy’s birthday bash that her husband, Matt, threw for her. The photo above was taken in their living room after Matt’s living room-to-70s dance club transformation was complete. After bringing in the dance floor, the professional lights, the DJ stand, and traveling a FANTASTIC (hehe…) photographer from North Carolina, this DC disco party was ready to roll!
Pretty good disguise for a living room, eh?
A few of the disco party-goers all decked out in their 70s gear! I love these!
Snacks are in the kitchen!
And drinks are downstairs!
What’s a theme party without a photobooth setup? I am having a blast sifting through these photos…. I’m sure you can only imagine! Hehehe….
Hahaha… still laughing over these!
Time to bring this post to an end… a group shot of party-goers that happened to be downstairs at the time:
A great night, great people, and a great party. I hope people are talking about this one for a long time!!
That’s it for me! xx
Day 3! Our final day in Gatlinburg… We got up early and checked out of our little villa. Then headed over to the Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies. It was a rainy Monday morning so the usually bustling tourist town was fairly deserted. We intentionally saved the aquarium for Monday… Can you imagine trying to get a shot like the one above with 1000 little kiddies running around? So perfect and serene.. so empty. Just how I wanted it to be!
One of the first things you see when you go in are the Japanese Mudskippers. OKAY ONE OF MY FAVORITE ANIMALS EVER!!! YESSSS!!!! I have never seen a mudskipper in real life.. I was so excited, I could have died!!! Almost peed my pants!! If you don’t know what these little buggers are, check out this link and then you too will be obsessed:
THEY ARE SO COOL.
Okay, anyway… take a breather for a second.
Not claiming this to be a photographic masterpiece here, but just some fun pictures from our day. That funny one in the first picture is named Stevie. Personal favorite. We were there just in time to watch them feed the little guys!
These are Nautili.. nautiluses.. uhh.. Yeah that’s about all I know about them… something about a math equation, too…
I was also really excited to see that they had Sea Dragons!! Another personal favorite aquatic animal. I have been trying and trying to get a good photo of these suckers for so long. I tried at the aquariums in Niagara Falls, Seaworld in Florida, and the Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta… They are so hard to capture!! FINALLY. Finally, I got them! The pictures I’ve wanted! I can’t tell you how stoked I am about this!
So gorgeous. Maybe one day I can be a wildlife photographer, or a travel/destination photographer, where I get to go find these guys in the real world… Just dreams…
Alright! That wraps up the Gatlinburg vacation.. Again, sorry it’s been so long. Mad busyyy. Next pics are probably gonna be some production stills or something since that is consuming my life right now. Hope everyone is living a happy life and much love to all of you!! xo
Gatlinburg, day 2!! Sorry it is taking me forever to get these posted.. The movie I am working on is taking ALL of my time. It’s insanity. Okay, anyway, I got a few minutes to myself today.. so here are pics from day 2!
After a long day of hiking on Day 1, we decided to just drive around on the Smoky Mountain Parkway (not sure what it’s really called, but something like that) and just see how beautiful it was. We got out for some pictures and some exploring from time to time.. Then we stumbled upon this AWESOME place. It was so cool.. we were the only ones there. Felt like an oasis in a desert… All the dead trees and then BAM! Green moss and water and.. well, you can just check it out.
Hahaha… he’s so goofy. Look at my mountain man!!!
Silver Patron + Gatlinburg bear shot glass = Happy Brendan.
Day 3 coming whenever I get some dang time… Later xoxo
Woohoo!! A vacation!!!!!! Totally, what I needed to escape the madness for a little while. I have recently been picked up as the Propmaster/Key Wardrobe for an independent feature film being shot in Charlotte, NC. Working in film means no time to spend with your loved ones at home.. something I realized while I was in school getting my film degree. Fortunately, Brendan and I already had a little weekend getaway planned so it was a great excuse to get out of town for a bit.
Heading out on Friday afternoon, we arrived in the Great Smoky Mountains around sunset. I had to pull off the road as we approached to get this shot… Such a beautiful time to be pulling up! Could not have gotten luckier on that one.
The next morning, we set off for a hike. Neither of us are really hiking people.. just a couple of city kids, really… But the lure of a 100-foot waterfall, home to a diverse range of salamander species, was just too much for me. While looking up it’s location, I seemed to have missed this part…:
“The trail to the waterfall gains over 2,000′ in elevation over its 4 mile course and the 8-mile roundtrip hike is considered strenuous in difficulty.” (nps.gov)
Off we go!
That’s me! (For the record, it’s not a fanny pack when it’s filled with lenses, batteries, and memory cards..)
That was a teeny tiny skinny little bridge that we had to cross to continue on the path. Scary!! I love adventures!!
As you can tell in the picture above.. the sun was beginning to set. I was so determined to make it to the waterfall.. We kept pushing on, hoping to make it before dark. After climbing over three miles into the forest, we regretfully had to turn back. It was a disappointing blow to work so hard to get there and just barely fall short. We were SO close, but the dangers weighed more than the photo op. The rocks and moss were slippery, BEARS are apparently everywhere in the area, and the path was overall tough and dangerous. Just before we turned around, we set the camera on a rock for this shot of the two of us.
In the dark, the hard path was much scarier. I kept thinking I was seeing bears!! We were telling “what if..” horror stories just to creep ourselves out. After over six miles, we made it back alive and all was well. We were exhausted!!! Went home and I took some cool shots of the night sky with fog creeping around the mountain. Then… bedtime. xoxo
“I’m 1 Today!”
This is Krish! What an adorable little boy!
Yesterday, I took a trip out to Raleigh, NC to shoot little Krish’s first birthday party.
Let’s start off with a quick family photo:
This party was such a huge event!! Krish is quite popular for a one year old.. I don’t think I could have a party this big if I tried!!! 😉 He had an awesome cake made by Lynn’s Traditions based out of Raleigh, NC. Check out their site for more details on how to get your own cake like this one.
Also, delicious food catered by the restaurant venue, Zayka Indian Cuisine.
Following appetizers was a children’s entertainment show, featuring Elmo, a magician, and balloon twisting.
Don’t forget face painting!
A special hat for the birthday boy!!
And finally, time for this huge crowd to sing “Happy Birthday” to little Krish. He was so cute as he clapped along with everyone after the song.
Blowing out the candle! Happy birthday little man!
That’s a wrap on Krish’s 1st Birthday. Looking forward to a future portrait session with this awesome family & their precious son!!
The series is back and BIGGER than ever, you guys. Oh my gosh.. I can’t even explain how excited I am about this. About a month of work went into this shoot today.. we are stepping it up a notch on the series and incorporating designers and wardrobe into our artistic animal shoots. I am so happy and excited and inspired!!!
Today’s shoot features Ms. Christin Sorensen rocking a killer dress made by Candace K Styling and sporting makeup by Subreen Davis Makeup Artistry. I am so so so lucky to have such a talented group of girls on my hands… It is an incredible thing!!! Ok Ok, now I’ll shut up and show you the goods!
We will start off with a few behind the scenes photos just for fun. The getting ready process is always a fun time to spend with the girls. We were all constantly snacking on donut holes which made Christin quite jealous… You see, she was glued to her chair as to not mess up her body paint while it was drying.. So in the below pictures, you will see some generosity as we feed her donut holes. Candace helped Subreen with the body paint to help pale out Christin’s complexion. Final touch: paint her nails black!
Once to the location in the University Area, Subreen was able to put the finishing touches on Christin’s back and Candace got her dress all set. We got the occasional funny stare from spectators.. I’m sure they were wondering what was up with the koi fish in the river. My favorite, though, are the people who pretend like that don’t notice. You can see a look of confusion on their face but they don’t want to be rude and stare… Gets me every time.
Happy Birthday again to Laura, the set decorator!
And now, I give you…. *drum roll*… Christin, the Koi Fish!

Hey guys! Quick update.. The video I modeled for a few weeks ago is now up and running!! This was a blast to make out in the (freezing) mountain river up on the Blue Ridge Parkway. This video came together by the efforts of great people, Chris Van Atta (Chris Van Atta Photography) and Mike Gentilini (Gentilini Video Entertainment). Check out their work.. they are wonderful, creative dudes!!! Fantastic people with a great vibe.. Much love goes out to my man, Chris!!
That’s all for now, xx.
Hey guyyyyys! So… with all this work on the series, I felt like I should take a trip before my upcoming weddings sentence me to eternity in my studio, editing, editing, editing… So, my sweet sweet beau and I went off for a romantic getaway at my family’s mountain house in the tiny town of Todd, NC. Apparently, the leaves had just changed the night before we left to head up there… we heard that they had all been green the day before. How very lucky of us to have a sight like this off of our porch:
This house is very special to my family. My grandfather, who passed away at a very young age before I was born, is buried in the graveyard next to the house. He built this house.. all by himself, by hand. It is really, really amazing. I wish so much that I had gotten the chance to meet him. From what I have heard about him, I think that we would have been really great friends. A spectacular man.
“Though he traveled the world, he loved this place.”
On the other side of the house, is a beautiful pond. The reflection of the changing leaves on the calm water was such a sight. It was like something out of a travel magazine. I really couldn’t believe how great our timing was to get up here just as the leaves were becoming these brilliant colors.
Brendan and I had fun feeding the fishes in the pond.. They seem to really love crackers. Hehe! While feeding the fish, I wanted to get them to bite my finger.. so as I was leaning over the edge of the dock, I kept sticking my head in all of these elaborate spiderwebs. I didn’t want to break them, so I gave up my hopes of being nipped by one of the hungry fish. It seemed like fun at the time… now it just sounds kind of crazy. Next time?
Today, we went kayaking down the New River. It was so funnn! I felt like Pocahontas.. the colors of the wind, just around the river bend… It was incredible! I’m telling you! The leaves were stunning!!!!
Home now from vacation.. about to start back working again very soon. My photos will be up and available to see at a local gallery opening on Friday night. Look for new wedding photos on Saturday night, and new animal series photos on Sunday night!
Cross your fingers I survive! Until then, xx.
This is going to be a long entry, so please stick with me.
Okay. Well. I don’t even know where to begin with this… Let’s start at the beginning.
Hey guys!! I just returned home from an adventure with great friend and photographer, Chris Van Atta. We took a trip to the Bahamas to do a “trash the dress” shoot. Awesome job, right? We gathered tons of video footage documenting our journey, and I will try to get that video edited together asap, but that takes time, and I’m traveling again for another week… Busy, busy. Here are a few shots of Colleen from her trash the dress shoot. Video coming soon??
I’ve just recently stopped my traveling and been able to stop and breathe for a second! I finished up some more of Colleen’s photos, and I just love them… Sharing them now 🙂 Enjoy!
And sadly, I have just received a message that this adorable little puppy, Dune, has passed away. Although we spent just a few days with little “Pots” (as Chris called him), I’m very sad for this loss. I’ve got a huge heart for animals, and I am so so sorry for Colleen and Mike. My heart is out to you, friends!!
Trash the Dress
Hey hey everyone! I have some new pictures to share with you all from this week. I spent it in DC visiting my handsome, handsome man. The most wonderful boy, really!
When visiting these landmarks, I wanted to be sure I didn’t take the typical “tourist” photos. I really hate those, and I wanted to capture these places because they are just absolutely incredible, but in an original, different kind of way. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do. If you are interested in purchasing prints of any of them, you can email me at email@example.com.
